Hannah Osmond was born c1785, in Whitchurch, Hampshire.

She married William Stratton on the 14th August 1820, in Ramsbury, Wiltshire. (William was from Newbury)

(William was baptised on the 29th December 1790, in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Thomas and Rebecca Stratton (nee Ham) who were married on the 26th October1789 at St John the Evangelist, Smith Square, Westminster)

William and Hannah had the following two children baptised in Speen:

William, baptised 29th February 1824

Sarah Elizabeth, baptised 18th December 1825

Hannah was widowed in 1839. William died aged 48, he was buried on the 1st May, in Tangley, Hampshire.

The 1841 census records Hannah (50), a Farmer, living in Tangley, Hampshire with her children, William (15), a Farmer and Sarah (14).

The 1851 census records Hannah (66) and her son William (27), a Draper & Grocer, living in Oldbury on the Hill, Gloucestershire.

In 1861 Hannah (76) was recorded as a boarder at Church Farm, Linkenholt, Hampshire, the home of her son-in-law, Michael Osmond (56) a Farmer, her daughter Sarah Osmond (35) and their family. (Sarah Elizabeth Stratton married widower, Michael Osmond, in 1855, marriage registered in Newbury)

Hannah’s son William died aged 41, on the 27th March 1865. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd April.

Hannah died aged 84, on the 27th November 1869. She was laid to rest with her son William, in the Newtown Road Cemetery, on the 3rd December.

Hannah’s son-in-law, Michael Osmond died aged 64, on the 10th October in 1868. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th October. Her daughter Sarah Elizabeth was recorded as an Annuitant living at 3 Porchester Villas Newbury in the 1871 census. In 1881 she was recorded living from dividends at 13 Stormont Road Battersea London. She died aged 61 on the 25th January 1887 and was laid to rest alongside her husband in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31st January (her death was registered in Reading and she was brought from Reading for the burial). Probate records her Personal Estate as £4272 13s)

Probate: STRATTON Hannah    Effects: under £800      17th February 1870    The Will of Hannah Stratton late of Porchester Villas Newbury in the County of Berks Widow deceased who died 27th November 1869 at Porchester Villas aforesaid was proved at the Principal Registry by oaths of Sarah Elizabeth Osmond of Porchester-villas aforesaid Widow the Daughter and Stephen Wickham of Greenham in the County aforesaid Gentleman the Nephew Executors
