THE LATE MISS STEVENS The funeral of the late Miss Stevens, whose death occurred on Wednesday last, took place on Saturday. Miss Stevens, who had resided in Craven-street for a considerable number of years, was sister to the late Mr. Robert Stevens, both he and his father having been stewards on the Earl of Carnarvon's estate at Pixton, Somerset. The brother died some years ago, and the sister continued to live in a retired manner. She was buried in the same grave.
The first part of the service was at Newbury Parish Church. The clergman being the Rev. W.S.Edgell, and at the graveside in the Cemetery, the committal sentences were read by the Rev. A.F.Bliss. The coffin was inscribed
Elizabeth Stevens, died April 14, aged 74 years.
There were no flowers by special request. The mourners were nieces and nephews. The arrangements were in the hands of Messrs. Penfold and son, Northbrook-street. |
