Biographical Information

The articles below contain information about John Thatcher.

John Thatcher burial 7 December 1863 aged 63

John Thatcher burial 7 December 1863   aged 63

No age in FBMD

in FMP  under Jon Thatcher there are records of a John in Berks burial Index who died on 7th December – age 63

He was a labourer and unmarried man. Lived in lodgings.

In 1851 Census he lodged with the Spiers family in Donnington Road.  Head of household Anthony was a publican.  – At the time recorded as 47 born 1804. Perhaps he didn’t want to admit to being in his 50s

In 1861 Census he lodged at the Hand and Heart Inn in Bartholomew St. so he obviously had connections with publicans but then at this time many unmarried labourers lodged in Public Houses. This time recorded as being born 1801 recorded as being 60  - so there seems to be some flexibility about his birth year!
