Francis Henry Brooks (1838 – 1863)
Unnamed Brooks (1862 – 1862)
Little is known of Francis, he cannot be found in the 1841 or 1851 censuses and no birth or baptism records have been traced.
Francis married Elizabeth Ann Paulin in Q4 1859 in Newbury. Elizabeth was baptized on 26 March 1837 at St Nicolas in Newbury, the daughter of Thomas, a shoemaker, and Elizabeth Ann Paulin. Elizabeth was recorded with her parents and siblings living in Bartholomew Street in the 1841 and 1851 censuses, her father Thomas was recorded as a shoemaker in both.
In the 1861 census Francis and Elizabeth were recorded in Jack of Newbury Street in Newbury along with daughter Agnes aged 6 months. Francis was recorded as 23 years old journeyman silversmith who was born in Kingsclere.
A few months later Francis and Elizabeth had an unnamed daughter who was buried on 18 February 1862 at Newtown Road Cemetery.
Francis died on 26 June 1863 aged 25 and he was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 29 June.
Nearly two years later Elizabeth married a widower John Allen Payne on 10 May 1868 at St Mary in Speenhamland. Elizabeth and John continued to live in Newbury. Elizabeth died on 19 November 1916 aged 80 while living at Brooklyn, Hambridge Road in Greenham and was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 22 November.
