Mary Matilda Freeman Cooke
1859-1860
Mary was born in Newbury in 1859 she was the eldest child of Edward & Matilda Cooke (nee Abel) who were married in Newbury in 1859. Mary’s father was a Salesman /China Dealer. (He was the brother-in-law of James Jeremiah Davies who had a successful China/Glass /Earthenware business in Northbrook Street)
Mary died aged 1 in 1860 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Cemetery on the 17th August 1860
Edward and Matilda went on to have nine more children:

After Mary’s brother Henry Edward was born the family moved to London, later they moved to Lambeth.
Mary’s father Edward died aged 49 in 1886.
The 1901 census records Mary’s mother Matilda as a visitor at 1 Ashley House Newbury (the home of James Jeremiah Davies and family). In 1911 Matilda was living at 44 Gloucester Road Newbury, she died aged 76 in 1915 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Cemetery on the 20th February.
