Athelia Collins (1797 – 1855)

                        Athelia Collins (1797 – 1855)

 

Athelia Collins was born on 30 July 1797 probably in Greenham. She was baptized on 3 September 1797 at St Mary in Greenham, the daughter of James and Ann Collins.

 

There is no trace of Athelia in the 1841 or 1851 censuses.

 

Athelia died on 2 February 1855 at St Mary’s Hill in Newbury. The cause of death was bronchitis exhaustion from cancer. She was recorded as formerly a domestic servant. The death was reported by Ann Wheeler of Chubbs Yard, St Mary’s Hill who was present at death. Her age was recorded as 59 on the death certificate but she was only 57.

 

Athelia was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 9 February 1855.
