GEORGE DUCKETT

 

THE LATE MR GEORGE DUCKETT

 

The funeral of Mr. George Duckett, who after his retirement from the London printing world, died on Wednesday last at 119, Bartholomew-street, took place on Monday at the Old Cemetery, Newbury.

 

`Mr. George Duckett, who was 64 years of age, was the son of Mr. George Duckett, who for many years employed by Messrs. Seymour of the Broadway.

 

Mr. George Duckett was apprenticed 50 years ago to the late Mr. W.J. Blacket, of 34, Northbrook-street, as a printer. Leaving the local firm, he was for many years employed by Messrs. Spottiswood, of London, and afterwards by Messrs. Cloves, where he had a responsible position. He remained in London until ill-health necessitated his leaving for Newbury. He was benefiting from the change to the country until his death took place very unexpectedly from heart failure.

 

The funeral service took place at the Primitive Methodist Church, Bartholomew-street, the minister being the Rev. W. Lawson Jones.

 

The mourners were the widow, Mr. Harry Duckett (son), Mrs. David Smith (daughter), Mr. David Smith (son-in-law), Mrs. H. Duckett (daughter-in-law).

 

Many other people were present including Mr. Councillor J.H. Thompson and Mr. Alfred Collins (representing Messrs Blacket Turner and Co. Ltd.).
