Eliza Gibbs

c1834-1850

 

Eliza was born in Newbury she was the daughter of George and Jane Gibbs (nee Bailey) who were married on the 25th October 1824 in Greenham. George was a Bricklayer he was born c1802 in Newbury. Jane was born c1806 in Newbury.

Other known children of George and Jane were:

Thomas c1841 (died aged 3 months buried 19th May 1841 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Twins: Mary and Martha 1842 (Mary died aged 6 months buried 4th November 1842 at St Nicolas Newbury)

James 1845

 

Eliza (7) was recorded in the 1841 census living with her father George (35), her mother Jane (35) and her siblings, Henry (14), Clara (12), William (10), John (5) and Charles (2), in Old Newtown Road Newbury.

Eliza died aged 18 in 1850 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th July.

 The family were recorded living in Old Newtown Road Newbury in both the 1851 and 1861 census. The 1871 census records Jane and George living in Old Road Newbury.

Jane died aged 69 in 1873 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd March

George died aged 78 on the 13th January 1876 at Old Road Newbury he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19th January.
