Edwin Dell 1852-1912

EDWIN DELL

 

Edwin was born around 1852 in Greenham, Berks.

 

In 1861 he was 9 & living with his parents Edwin & Hannah Dell near the Blue Ball Public House, Greenham. His father was a Cordwainer & he had 6 siblings: Emily, Elizabeth, Emma, Mary Ann, Kate & Frederick.

 

In 1871, aged 19, Edwin was now a Bootmaker. He was living with his father & step-mother, Phebe, in Goldings Yard, Greenham. His sister Kate was with him plus step- siblings Phebe & Frederick.

 

Edwin married Emma Bosisto (2255)  in 1873 (Q2 Newbury 2c 420).

 

1881 saw them living at 6, West St., Newbury. He is still a Bootmaker & they have 4 children: Walter Bosisto, Brice Edwin, Louis Emily & Nellie Lazenby.

 

In 1891 they are still in West Street & Edwin is still a Bootmaker but also a Waiter. Son, Walter, is a Grocer’s assistant & Brice is an Outfitter’s Assistant. Nellie & Louis are ther plus further children, Victor & Maria Bosisto.

 

By 1901 they have moved to 98, Northbrook Street. Edwin, 49, with still the same jobs & Emma is 51. Nellie, a Dressmaker, & Maria are still at home. They also have a lodger.

 

In 1911 they are at the same address with Edwin being a Boot maker & Shop keeper. Nellie & Maria are still at home.

 

Edwin dies on 11 February 1917 aged 65 (Q1 Newbury 2c 416).

He is buried at NRC on 14 February 1917. His wife survives him by 2 years.
