Henry Thomas Allen
1915-1915
Henry Thomas was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Thomas Richard and Kate Allen (nee Barrett) who were married in 1913 (marriage registered in Newbury)
Henry Thomas died aged 1 month on the 31st January 1915. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd February.
Henry’s family:
His father Thomas Richard was born on the 29th April 1888 in Enborne, Berkshire, the illegitimate son of Ellen Allen.
Henry’s mother Kate was born 1887 in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of William and Annie Barrett (nee Smith) who were married in 1881 (marriage registered in Hungerford)
Thomas Richard and Kate also had the following two children born in Newbury:
Ernest Arthur, 18th November 1913
Kitty, born 21st November 1917
In 1915, the family were living at 2 Dothan Place, Cheap Street, Newbury.
In 1921 Thomas (34), was working as a General Labourer, living at 8 Albert Road, Newbury, Berkshire, with Kate (34), Ernest Arthur (7) and Kitty (3)
Thomas was widowed in 1939. Kate died aged 51, in Newbury.
The 1939 Register records Thomas working as a Road Sweeper and Labourer for the Corporation. He was living at 10 Monks Lane, Newbury, with Kitty.
Thomas remarried in 1942. His 2nd wife was a widow, Amy Jane Quintin (nee Powell).
Amy was born on the 4th November 1898. In 1939 she was living at 57 Camp Close, Newbury.
Thomas died aged 84 in 1972, in Newbury.
