John Francis Howe

1914-1914

John was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Wallace and Carrie Dora Howe (nee Stratford) who were married in 1900 (marriage registered in Windsor).

John Francis died aged 13 days, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th June.

John’s father Wallace Henry was a Printer’s Machine Minder. He was born on the 22nd July 1874 in Taunton, Somerset, the son of William Henry and Sarah Ann Howe (nee Grant) who were married in 1870 (marriage registered in Taunton) Wallace died aged 80 in 1955 in Newbury.

His mother Carrie was born in 1878 in Swindon, Wiltshire, the daughter of John and Lydia Stratford (nee Hunn) who were married in 1874 (marriage registered in Wallingford). Carrie died aged 57 in 1936 in Newbury.

Wallace and Carrie also had the following children:

Henry William born 1900 in Windsor

Frederick Alphonso born 1902 in Windsor

Wilfred Wallace born 27th August 1904 in Windsor

Dora Lydia May born 1907 in Windsor

Edith Delia Kezia born 20th December 1909 in Newbury

George Edwin born 5th October 1911 in Newbury

Winifred Alice born 16th May 1918 in Newbury

In 1901 Wallace (26), Carrie (22) and their son Henry (6 months) were living at 96 Victoria Cottages Clewer Berkshire.

The 1911 census records the family living at 7 St Nicolas Road, Newbury.

In 1914 they were recorded living at 13 St Nicolas Road, Newbury.
