Kathleen Doris Payne (1910 – 1914)

 

Henry Payne was born on 28 April 1864 in Ramsbury in Wiltshire. He married Martha Jane Perrett in 1889 in Hungerford. Martha was born on 11 September 1869 in Charlton in Wiltshire.

 

Henry and Martha had 7 children, Henry Lewin (1891), Frances Georgina (1893), Letty Louise (1895), Frederick (1899), Florence Amelia (1901), Elsie Maud (1903) and Kathleen Doris (1910). The eldest Henry was born in Wiltshire, Frances and Letty in Hungerford and the four youngest all in Newbury.

 

In the 1911 census Henry and Martha along with children Henry, Letty, Frederick, Florence, Elsie and Kathleen were recorded living at 4 Morningside, Kings Road in Newbury. Henry senior and his son Henry were both carpenters and Letty a domestic servant.

 

Sadly, Kathleen died in May 1914 aged just 4 and she was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 27 May

.

Henry and Martha continued to live in Newbury. In 1921 they were still living at 4 Morningside and they then moved to 72 Kings Road. Henry died on 23 May 1942 and Martha on 20 June 1949, while still living at 72 Kings Road. They were buried at Shaw Cemetery on 28 May 1942 and 24 June 1949 respectively.
