Also of Esther wife of Charles Webb/ who died March 9th 1863 aged 26 years Also of Eliza wife of Charles Webb/ who died December 3rd 1865 aged 31 years. Also of Charles Webb who died March 25th 1910 aged 84 years. Also of Mary widow of the above died February 27th 1921 aged 84 years Alfred son of Charles and Esther Webb died April 12th 1863 aged 4 months ILMO Martha/ 7th daughter of John and Susan Webb/ who passed away in sleep June 27th 1893/ aged 21 years/ "to fall asleep is not to die/ To dwell with Christ is better life" Also of Susan, wife of John Webb/ who died December 17 1895 aged 61 years. Also of John Webb who died October 19th 1903 aged 70 years/ And of Sarah, daughter of the above/ who died March 10th 1912 aged 46 years. Sarah Webb

1866-1912

 

Sarah was born in 1866 in Newbury and was the daughter of John & Susan Webb (nee Brooks) who were married in Newbury in 1856. Her father was a Grocer.

Sarah’s siblings were:

John Brooks 1857   Jessie Susannah 1858   Samuel 1859   Elizabeth Brooks 1861   Mary Annie 1863   Thomas 1864   Ellen Edith 1868   Florence Isabel 1870   Martha 1871   Frank Guthrie 1873   Hetty Katharine Rayer  1875

In 1871 Sarah was living with her parents and siblings in Speenhamland (possibly Portland Place).

 In 1881 she was a pupil at Fonthill College Abbey Road Great Malvern Worcestershire (Fonthill College Abbey Road was a small boarding school for young ladies aged between about 11 and 17 years; it was in existence from about 1880 to 1912) along with her sister Mary Annie.

 In the 1891 census Sarah was recorded as a Niece in the household of her aunt, Mary Rayer at Stanmore Farm Beedon. By 1901 she was back in Newbury living with her widowed father John and some of her siblings at 50 Northbrook Street.

In the 1911 census she was recorded living with her widowed brother Samuel and sisters, Ellen, Florence and Hetty at 1 Portland Place Newbury.

 

Sarah died aged 46 in 1912 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 13th March.
