Elsie Tucker
1899-1900
Elsie was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Thomas and Amelia Tucker (nee Fewtrell) who were married on the 25th December 1889, at St John the Evangelist, Newbury.
Elsie died aged 13 months, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28th March 1900
Elsie’s family:
Her father Thomas was born in 1870, in Newbury, the son of William and Elizabeth Tucker (nee Curtis) who were married on the 25th December 1852, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury.
Elsie’s mother Amelia was born c1871, in Reading, Berkshire, the daughter of Albert and Ann Selina (aka Selina) Fewtrell (nee Phillips) who were married on the 26th November 1857, at St Mary, Lambeth, Surrey.
Elsie’s siblings were:
William Thomas, born 1890
Edwin Maurice, c1893
Albert Walter, 1895
Nellie, c1898 (died aged 3 months, 1898, buried in the NRC on the 24th March)
Bessie, 1901
Charles Henry, 1904
Minnie Ann Selina, c1907
In 1901 Thomas (33) a General Labourer, Amelia (33), William (10), Edward (8) (Edwin) and Walter (5), (Albert Walter) were living at 12 Adey’s Buildings, Stroud Green, Newbury.
Elsie’s mother Amelia died aged 39 on the 4th July 1909. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7th July.
Thomas after Amelia’s death:
The 1911 census records Thomas (43) as a GWR Labourer, living at 12 Adey’s Buildings, with his children, William (20), a General Labourer, Edwin (18), working at home, Walter (15), a Grocer’s Errand Boy, Charlie (6), Bessie (9) and Minnie (4).
Elsie’s father Thomas died aged 53, on the 25th November 1922. He was buried on the 29th November, in Shaw Cemetery (abode at time of death, 17 Railway Road, Newbury).
