William Tucker
c1820-1882
William was born in Brimpton Berkshire the son of John and Charlotte Tucker (nee Bidmead) who were married on the 29th May 1813 in Brimpton Berkshire.
Other known children of John and Charlotte were, Harriet c1814, Anne c1817 Sarah c1818, Eliza c1827, George c1833 and Henry c1837.
In 1841 William’s parents John (55) and Charlotte (45) and his siblings Eliza (14), George (8) and Henry (4) were living at Able Bridge, Brimpton Common, Berkshire. John was working as an Agricultural Labourer.
William’s father died aged 57 in 1843, he was buried on the 19th March at St Peter Brimpton. His mother died aged 50 later the same year, she was buried on the24th December at St Peter Brimpton.
William married Ann Brown in 1847 (marriage registered in Newbury), he was widowed the following year. Ann died aged 19, she was buried on 26th July 1848 at St Peter Brimpton Berkshire.
In 1851 William (28) was working as a Labourer and was lodging at the Black Bear Inn in Market Street, Newbury, he remarried the following year.

William and Elizabeth had the following ten children but sadly only two survived to adulthood:

In 1861 William (35) was recorded as a Carter living in Cheap Street Newbury with Elizabeth (25), Alice Amelia (2) and a lodger, Joseph Tucker ((48) a Labourer. (Surname recorded as Lucker on ancestry)
The family were living in St Mary’s Hill, Newbury in 1871. William was working as a Miller.
The 1881 census records William as a Carman, living in Greenham Street, Newbury with his family.
William died aged 57 on the 11th February 1882, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th February.
Elizabeth remarried later the same year, her 2nd husband was Richard Middleton, a Gardener. The 1891 census records them living in St Mary’s Hill and the 1901 census records the couple living at 78 Cheap Street, Newbury.
Richard Middleton died in 1908 in Newbury District Hospital, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th March
Elizabeth was recorded as an old age pensioner living at 2 Hillman’s Cottages, Stroud Green, Newbury in the 1911 census, she died aged 74 in 1912 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th April.
