George was born in1845 (Q4 Newbury 6 201) to Henry (12064) & Martha (8574) Dell.

In 1851, aged 5, George was living with his parents in Chapel Yard, Northbrook Street & sisters, Ellen (8294) & Elizabeth. His father is a Shoemaker.

Within the next 7 years, George lost a brother, Henry (8171), & a sister, Ellen plus his mother, Martha.

In 1861 Henry & his new wife plus family were living in Bath Road, Speen. George is 15 & a House Painter. He has 3 step-siblings: William, Mary Jane (9634) & Thomas (9635). Sadly, the latter two died in 1865.

1871 saw them living at 7, Waterloo Road, Newbury. George is a Painter & Paper hanger, aged 25.

From 1881 – 1911 census records they are living at 62, Northbrook Street, Newbury. George continues his trade of Painter & Paper Hanger. They had no children but, occasionally, had lodgers.

Hannah died in 1912.

In the 1921 census George had moved to 5 Ashford Road, Swindon to live with his sister-in-law, Amelia, & husband Richard. (his surname has been mis-transcribed as Clack though it’s clearly Dell on the original record) This was where he died, aged 80, on 17 January 1926 (Q1 Swindon 5a 24).
