Recorder's Notes Thomas Charles Long was a cutler & ironmonger. He worked in Canterbury, Kent for a time before returning to Newbury. He married Florence Thatcher, daughter of John Thatcher, Farmer of Winterbourne & Enborne Farms & wife of Thomas Charles Long, cutler, above. She worked as a housekeeper to her Uncle Charles, farmer of Enborne before her marriage and died in Rose Cottage, Chieveley. Sources: Ancestry records

THOMAS CHARLES LONG
 THE LATE MR. T.C. LONG
The funeral of Mr. T.C. Long, who died at St Mary's Church House, Reading, on June 4th, took place at Newbury on the following Thursday. Deceased, who was in his 5 1' year, and had been ill for a considerable period, was the eldest son of the late Mr. Alderman Robert Long, J.P., C.C., and Mrs. Long, Hawarden, Newbury.
In 1891 he married Florence, eldest daughter of the late Mr. John Thatcher, of Enbourne, who with five daughters, survive him. The first part of the funeral service took place at St. John's Church, Newbury, the Rev. R. Wickham Long, vicar of St. Mary's, Reading, assisted by the Rev. A.G. P. Baines, vicar, officiating__


The interment was at the cemetery, deceased being buried in the same grave as that which contained the remains of his grandparents.
The mourners were: the widow and daughters, Mr. R.C. Long and Mr. F. W. Long (brothers), Mrs. E. L. Staples and Mrs. A.J. Smith (sisters), the Misses Staples (nieces), Mr. and Mrs. H.R. Thatcher, Mr. T. Thatcher, Mr. and Mrs. F. Hopson, Mrs. F. F. Thatcher, Mr. E.I. Staples, and Mr. A.J. Smith. Regt.-S.M. H.W. long and Pte. Keith Long (brothers) were absent owing to military duties.
There is a long list of those present at the graveside.
