DEATH OF MR. THOMAS PLUMB
The death occurred on Saturday of Mr. Thomas Plumb, of Myrtle-cottage, Greenham-road, at the age of 65. He was a native of Isleworth, and came to Newbury at the age of seven. He was apprenticed to the late Mr. W.G.Adey, of West Mills, and was afterwards foreman to Mr. E. James, of Pound-street.

He commenced business as a builder thirty years ago, and carried out many important contracts, including the erection of the Municipal Offices in 1909-10. He had a reputation for the excellence of his work, which was of substantial and lasting nature. He was a man of conscientious character and greatly respected.

For many years he was a member of St John's Church Choir.

The funeral took place yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon, the first part of the service being conducted by the Vicar (Rev. E.H. Stenning).

The mourners were: Mrs. Plumb (widow); Mr. Thomas Plumb (son). Miss Margaret Plumb (daughter), Mr. W. Marshall, Mrs. B. Freeman, Mr. W. MacMath, Mrs. A. Plumb, Mr. S. Marshall.

There was a large gathering of friends and neighbours, including Councillors J.R. Witts and R. Jeffery, Meers. C. Dalby, H. Snook, T.H. Cullum, F. Morton, S. Bragg, T. Thorn, C.J. Chivers, W. Luxton, Lee Smith, H. Walker, J.S. Cole, F.S.Watts, A. Allen, F. Wellington, W.E.Goodman, F.G. Pavier, W. Taylor, G. Bass, H. Eaton and others.

Included in the wreaths were those from the Wife and Children, Sister Mary, Sam, Kit and Margaret, Mrs. and Miss Chalk, Mrs Potter and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. B. Freeman and family, Mr.and Mrs. F.C.Fisher (Cold Ash), Newbury Conservative Club, Mrs Marshall and Alec, Mr. and Mrs. Church and daughter, Mrs. Taylor, Herbie and Kitty, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Chivers, Messrs. T. Thorn and Sons, Mr. and Mrs. C. Field, the Employees, Mrs. J. Cox, Hettie and Issie, Mr. and Mrs. J. Weston, Mr. and Mrs MacMath, Mr. and Mrs Preston and family.

The body was borne by workmen, and the arrangements superintended by Mr. R. Chalk, foreman to the deceased.
