Louisa was born on the 25th October 1870, in Canterbury, Kent. She was baptised on the 10th November 1870 at the Garrison Chapel, Canterbury Barracks, the daughter of Frederick (a Sergeant in the 20th Hussars) and Emma Robinson (nee Assig) who were married on the 10th June 1857, at St Mary, Northgate, Canterbury.

Louisa’s father Frederick was born on the 24th July 1834, in St George the Martyr, Middlesex. He was baptised on the 21st   September 1834, at St Andrew, Holborn, Middlesex, the son of William a (Carman) and Mary A. Robinson of 30 Eagle Street. Frederick died aged 76 on the 7th January 1911, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 11th January.

Her mother was born in London, the illegitimate daughter of Amelia Assig (nee Pearton), the widow of Augustus De Assig (also recorded as Assig and Deassig). Emma died aged 94 on the 17th March 1930. She was laid to rest with Frederick on the 21st March.

Frederick and Emma also had the following children also baptised at the Garrison Chapel, Canterbury Barracks, Kent:

Frederick William, born 1858 (no baptism found)

Emma, born 1861 (baptised 28th December 1861)

Charles Albert, born c1864 (baptised 3rd April 1864, died 1864)

Wilhelmina, born 1865 (baptised 11th June 1865)

Charles Herbert, born 1867 (baptised 19th January 1868)

Alice Maude, born 1869 (baptised 16th May 1869, died 1869)

Clara, born c1872 (baptised 31st March 1872)

The 1861 census records Frederick (26), a Sergeant in the 3rd Dragoon Guards, Emma (25) and their son Fredrick William (2), lodging in Crown Street, Leeds, Yorkshire.

In 1871 Frederick (36), Sergeant 20th Hussars, Emma (35), Frederick (12), Emma (9), Wilhelmina (5), Charles (3) and Louisa (5 months), were recorded living in the Army Barracks, in Northgate, Canterbury, Kent.

In 1881 Frederick (46) was recorded as a Yeomanry Instructor, living at 5 Devonshire Terrace, Oxford Road, Tilehurst, Reading, Berkshire, with Emma (45), Emma (18), Wilhelmina (16), both Dressmakers, Charles (13), Louisa (10), and Clara (9)

The 1891 census records Frederick (56) as a Retired Sergeant Major, living in Craven Road, Newbury, with Emma (56) and their daughters, Emma (29), Wilhelmina (26) and Clara (18), all Dressmakers and Louisa (20), a Stationer’s Assistant.

The 1901 census records Louisa (30), as a Bookseller’s Assistant, boarding at 38 Queens Road, St Giles, Reading, Berkshire.

In 1911 Louisa (38) was again recorded as a Bookseller’s Assistant, she was now recorded boarding at Buckingham House, Great Malvern Worcestershire.

The 1939 Register records Louisa as a Retired Bookseller, living at 49 Essex Street, Newbury.

Lousia’s sister Emma died aged 68 in 1930, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with her parents, on the 23rd June.

Her sister Wilhelmina died aged 78 in 1944, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th March.

Louisa died aged 84 on the 11th April 1955, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th April.
