John Edward Bolton was the second son of Joseph and Emma Bolton. He was the author's gt grandfather's elder brother. He was born at North Heath, Chieveley and moved to Peasemore when the family moved to Newbury (the Andover Road). He became a rural letter carrier
He married Lucy in 1887 and live for a while in Cheap Street where their son Percy was born. Then they moved to Gloucester Road where daughters Clemence and Gertrude were born.
Sadly Percy died at 15 and Gertrude at 23. John Edward Bolton then klived at 20 Andover Road for the rest of his life. He seems to have worked for the Post Office all his working life.
