Unnamed (stillborn) Allen
1903-1903
This stillborn baby was the child of Mark Jenkins and Hannah Isabella Allen (nee Smith) who were married on the 26th March 1894, in Burghclere, Hampshire.
The child’s family:
Father: Mark was born in Weston, Berkshire. He was baptised in 1871 in Greenham, Berkshire, the son of Mark and Jemima Allen (nee Dance) who were married in 1870 (marriage registered in Newbury.)
Mother: Hannah Isabella (aka Isabella) was born on the 15th December 1870, in Newbury Berkshire, the daughter of John and Mary Ann Smith (nee Chamberlain) who were married in 1868 (marriage registered in Wantage).
Siblings: Mark William John, born c1895, Kathleen Isabella Maud, born 1900 and Vera Irene Louisa, born 1915.
The 1901 census records Mark (30) as a Carpenter, living in The Wash, Park Lane, Newbury, with Isabella (29) (Hannah Isabella), William (6) (Mark William John) and Maud (7 months) (Kathleen Isabella Maud)
In 1911 Mark (40) a House Carpenter, Isabella (39), William (16), an Under Gardener, and Maude (10), were recorded living at Park Lane Cottage, Andover Road, Newbury.
The 1921 census records Mark (50), a Carpenter, Isabella (49), Vera (6) and their granddaughter Grace Allen (1), living at 3 Fairview, off Andover Road, Newbury.
Mark died aged 50 on the 11th March 1922, in Reading Hospital after an accidental, fall from scaffolding, whilst working. His body was taken to Newbury and he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th March.
Hannah was recorded in the 1939 Register living at 3 Fair View. She continued to live there until her death in 1963.
