DINAH WALKER.
Dinah was born in Newbury in 1820 & baptised on 26 July 1820. Her parents were William, an Ostler, & Mary Walker.
Dinah’s mother, Mary, was widowed by 1840 & they are living in Gibbs Yard, Newbury. Dinah is 20 & has 2 siblings: William, 30 (also an Ostler) & Eliza, 25.
Mary is 60 & a Laundress.
They are still there in 1851 & Dinah is 30 & unmarried. Mary is 73 & still a Laundress. She was born at Overton, Hants. Brother William is 45 & born in Newbury.
No record has been found for 1861 but in 1871 Dinah, 50, is living on her own in Cheap Street, Newbury & is a Housekeeper. She never marries.
1881 sees her living at the District Union Workhouse aged 61 & a Pauper. She is still there in 1891, aged 71, & recorded as a Nurse Domestic Servant.
Dinah dies at the workhouse on the 21st of February 1898, aged 77, Q 1 1898 Newbury 2C 171. She was buried NRC on the 3rd of March 1898
