There is no burial register information available for James Gray.
Only three of the five burial register books still exist as far as we know and these are held at the Berkshire Record Office.
Stillborn children were not recorded in the burial register, only in the cemetery accounts.
From top of Ledger: The vault of the family of/ John Gray/ who was born at West Mills/ in the year 1782 and was/ buried in the year 1848/ in a vault situated in the South Porch of St. Nicholas' Church./ Is buried here/ Martha his widow/ born Feby. 22nd. 1790/ died July 14th. 1884. Also are buried here/ their children/ Ellen Rachel/ born Aug. 23rd/ 1817/ died Feb. 14th. 1864./ John Palmer/ born June 23rd. 1820/ died Sept 1st. 1871/ James Gray/ born Jany. 5th 1821/ died April 1st 1897./ Martha Elizabeth/ born August 13th. 1815/ died March 17th. 1910./ This vault contains the Mortal Remains of a Family whose public benefactions to the Church and Charitable Institutions were many and Liberal and whose countless private deeds of Charity and generous gifts will only be known when the secrets of all hearts shall be disclosed/ " Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a Memorial before God." | |
