Emma Clara Allen
1891-1896
Emma Clara was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of Walter John and Alice Maria Allen (nee King) who were married on the 16th March 1882, in Stepney, Middlesex.
Emma Clara died aged 5 on the 16th December 1896. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19th December.
Emma’s family:
Her father Walter John was a Photographer. He was born on the 26th February 1852 in Middlesex. Walter was baptised on the 21st March 1852, at St Anne, Limehouse, Tower Hamlets, Middlesex, the son of George (a Clerk) and Susannah Allen (ee Fossett) who were married on the 5th February 1838 in Poplar, Middlesex.
Her mother Alice Maria was born in 1858 in Halstead, Essex. She was baptised on the 29th August 1860, in Halstead, the daughter of James and Maria King (nee Rayner) who were married on the 19th October 1851, at St Andrew, Halstead, Essex.
Walter John and Alice Maria also had the following children:
Walter John, 1879 in Billericay Essex (before they were married)
Henry James, 1882 in Limehouse London
Arthur Arundell, c1886 in Newbury
Alice Maria, 1888 in Newbury
Frederick George, 1893 in Newbury (died in WW1 on the 6th March 1918, buried in Nine Elms British cemetery in Belgium)
George Alexander, 1896 in Newbury (died in WW1 on 15th October 1915, buried in Loos British Cemetery in France)
The 1881 census records Walter (28), a Photographic Artist, Alice (22) and their son Walter John (1), living at 1 Rose Villa, Brentwood, Essex.
In 1891 Walter (40), Alice (38) and their children, Walter (12), Henry (9), Arthur (5) and Alice (3) were recorded living at 6 Park Street, Newbury, Berkshire.
The 1901 census records Walter (49), as a self-employed Artist Photographer, living at 17 Jack Street, Newbury, with Alice (42) and their children, Alice (13), Fred (7) and George (5).
In 1911 Walter (61), a Photographer, Alice (51) and their sons, Frederick George (18), a Hall Boy and George Alexander (15), an Errand Boy, were living at 3 Albert Place, Albert Road, Newbury.
The 1921 census records Walter (69) and Alice (63), a Charwoman, living at 2 North Street, Vine Yard, Halstead, Essex.
Walter died aged 76 in 1927, in Halstead. He was buried on the 22nd July 1927 at St Andrew, Halstead, Essex.
Alice Maria died aged 77 in 1935 (death registered in Pancras)
