Isaac Tyler

1821-1896

Isaac was born on the 8th June 1821. He was baptised on the 8th July 1821, in West Woodhay, Berkshire, the son of Benjamin and Jane Tyler (nee Rixon) who were married on the 8th June 1810, in West Woodhay

Isaac’s father Benjamin was born c1782. He died in 1838 in West Woodhay.

His mother Jane was baptised in 1785, in West Woodhay, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Rickson. Jane remarried in 1840. Her 2nd husband was John Seymour (born c1781 in Welford). Jane died aged 80 in 1863, in Welford, Berkshire.

Benjamin and Jane also had the following children baptised in West Woodhay:

Amy, 31st March 1811

Harriet, 14th February 1813

John, 31st May 1818

In 1841 Isaac (15) was living in West Shefford Berkshire (surname recorded as Tylor on ancestry)

The 1851 census records Isaac (27) working as a Carter, in Burghclere, Hampshire (recorded as Isark on ancestry)

Isaac married in 1855

Bride: Elizabeth Driver, full age, widow, occupation, Servant, abode, Burghclere

Fathers: Benjamin Tyler and Thomas White, both Labourers

Witnesses: John Tyler and Jessie Tyler

In 1861 Isaac (41) was working as an Agricultural Labourer/Farm Carter. He was living at King’s Farm, Midgham, Berkshire, with Elizabeth (59), a niece, Elizabeth White (10) and four boarders.

The 1871 census records Isaac (49), an Agricultual Labourer and Elizabeth (76), living at Bird Farm, Midgham, Berkshire.

In 1881 Isaac (58) a Carter, was living alone in the “Crescent” Woolhampton, Berkshire.

The 1891 census records Isaac (48) a General Labourer, as an inmate in the Newbury Workhouse.

Isaac died aged 74, on the 6th April 1896, in the Newbury Workhouse, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 10th April.
