Transciption: | Thomas Tucker, 59, was an iron and steel worker at the Eagle Iron Works in Cheap Street. He had complained on Saturday about a pain in his left side but returned to work Monday morning, apparently in good health. At around 11.30am Thomas was knelt down drilling a hole when James Pyke, foreman, heard him make a strange noise at which point Thomas fell to the floor apparently dying immediately. An inquest into his death was held on the same evening at the Queen's Hotel. Mr Richard Hickman, surgeon, noted that the death was caused by heart failure. |
