Hannah Stratton
c1812-1893
Hannah was born c1812, in Ecchinswell, Hampshire.
In 1851 Hannah (38) was working as a Ladies Maid, at Barcombe Place, Barcombe, Sussex, for Elizabeth R Turner (64), a Land Proprietor.
Hannah married Charles Stratton in 1852 (marriage registered in Newbury)
(Charles was baptised on the 31st August 1817, in Hamstead Marshall, Berkshire, the son of John and Martha Stratton (nee Beakhurst) who were married on the 26th May 1806, in Hamstead Marshall).
In 1861 Charles (42) and Hannah (47) were both working as Servants, living at Pile (Pyle) Hill House, Greenham, Berkshire.
The 1871 census records Charles (53) as a Servant, living with Hannah (57), at Speen Hill House, Speen, Berkshire.
In 1881 Charles (63), a Waiter and Hannah (68), were recorded living in Greenham Street, Greenham, Berkshire.
The 1891 census records Charles (73) as a Retired Waiter, living in Jones Cottages, Greenham, Berkshire, with Hannah (78).
By 1893 Charles and Hannah were living in Church Almshouses, Newbury.
Hannah died aged 81, on the 6th December 1893, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 9th December.
Her husband Charles died aged 77, the following year on the 19th July. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with Hannah on the 23rd July 1894.
