THE LATE MRS MARY WESTALL

FUNERAL AT NEWBURY

Much sympathy is felt for the husband and relatives of Mrs Mary Elizabeth Westall, youngest daughter of the late Mr and Mrs John Spanswick, of “Myrtledene” Hambridge road, Newbury, whose death took place on August 13th at Southampton.

Mr and Mrs Westall made many friends during their residence in Newbury, where both were at one time in business.  For some years they have been living at Southampton, and Mrs Westall’s passing – she was taken ill on the Saturday and died on the following Monday – came as a great shock to all who knew her.  Aged only 36, she leaves three young children.

The funeral took place on August 16th at the Newtown road Cemetery, Newbury, the Rev. J N Blagden, Vicar of Greenham, officiating.

The mourners were: Mr Charles Westall (husband).Mr C Spanswick and Mr A Spanswick (brothers), Miss E Spanswick and Mrs P Longshaw (sisters), Mr and Mrs W Brooks, Mr and Mrs J Brooks (Reading), Mrs Barrett (Bradfield), Mrs Hawkins (Midgham), Mrs Barr (Thatcham), Mrs W Brooks Jun., Mrs J Brooks, Mrs Lasham (Reading), |Mrs Green.

Wreaths were sent by her loving husband; John, Norman and Ronald sons); Charlie, Arthur, Eva, Alice, Edie and Percy; Dorie and Eric; Aunt Jenny and Uncle Walter; Aunt Meta dnd Uncle Jim (Reading); Aunt Annie and Uncle Arthur (Maidenhead); Uncle Fred and family (Bucklebury); All at Chaddleworth; Nellie and Jim (Sonning); Wallie and Margaret; Mr and Mrs Read and Edna;  Mrs Chaplin (Speen); Mrs Freeman, Edie and Fred; Mr and Mrs F Purdue and Mr and Mrs Barrett; All at 69 Kings Road; Mr and Mrs Lasham and Jack (Reading); Mr and Mrs B Quinton; Mr and Mrs B Smith and family and Cecil; Neighbours of Hambridge road and Jucntion Terrace; Mrs Pauchaud ad Mr and Mrs Fisher; Mr and Mrs Collins and family (Southampton); Mr and Mrs Still (Southampton); Mr and Mrs Bartholomew and family; Christina May Bartholomew; All at 88 Northbrook street and Cash Drapery Stores; Miss Clinch; Mr and Mrs Mason (Stockcross); Mr and Mrs Hawkins; Ella and Francis; Mr and Mrs Hieatt; Mr and Mrs Laishley; Mr and Mrs Withers and family.

The funeralarrangements were carried out by Mr E B Hitchman, Oxford street,Newbury.

Mary Westall

Mary Westall died 13th of August 1934 from acute yellow atrophie of liver, pregnancy, and scarlet fever.

She was the youngest daughter of the late John spanswick . She died at Southampton isolation hospital .
