THE LATE MR.HENRY ELLIOTT
The funeral of the late Mr. Henry Elliott, of Argyle-road, took place on Tuesday very quietly at Newbury Cemetery. The cortège left deceased's residence at 11 o’clock. The remains were enclosed in an English oak coffin with brass furniture and brass name plate engraved with name, age and date, and were conveyed in a glass Washington car, following which was a brougham in which rode Mr. Edwin Elliott (son), Miss Elliott (niece), Mr. George Elliott (nephew), Mrs. Childs (niece).
On arriving at the Cemetery, they were joined by the workmen of the firm of Henry Elliott and Sons, Builders, etc., also were noticed several friends of the deceased, including Dr. Hickman, Mrs Lucas, Miss Lucas and others.
The service was impressively read by the Rev. R. Wickham Legg, vicar of St John's.
Floral wreaths and other emblems were sent from his only son Edwin and niece Lottie, Mr. Alfred Elliott and George and Ric, nephew and Niece: “old friends,” Robert and James Wood; Mr. and Mrs. Lucas, Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Keep, Mr. and Mrs. J. Stroud, Little Doris, Mr. and Mrs. Ncholson, Mrs Lemm and family etc.
Deceased had been a builder for many years, and was held in the highest respect for his integrity and good workmanship.
The arrangements were in the hands of Alfred Jackson and Co., undertakers, Market-place.
