MARY BELL
THE LATE MRS. BELL
The funeral took place yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon of the late Mrs. Mary Bell, wife of Mr. Robert Bell, of the Market Place, whose death took place on Saturday in her 84th year.
The ceremony at the Cemetery was conducted by the Rev. E.H. Titchmarsh, pastor of the Congregational Church.
The mourners were Mr. R. Bell, Mr.J.M. Bell, and Mr. W.H. Bell (sons), Mrs. J.M. and Mrs. W.H. Bell (daughters-in-law), Mr. W.H. Gore (nephew).
Floral offerings were contributed by the children, grandchildren, and other relatives.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Penford and Son.
Mrs Bell's great age linked her with a generation that has almost passed away. She was a daughter of the late Mr. Chubb, who, and his father before him carried on a hairdresser's business opposite the celebrated “Pelican” in the stirring days of the coaches, when Speenhamland was the busy end of the town. Mrs. Bell retained a vivid recollection of the animated scenes witnessed daily in the “Hamlet” in her girlhood days.
