the late Mr Henry Taylor.

By the death of Mr ,Henry Taylor on Friday last another old and respected tradesman of Northbrook St has passed away. The deceased had latterly been unwell the last time he left his house being on the previous Friday to record his vote.

Though conservative in general politics he often sided with the Liberal Party in municipal contests in which in the past he was want to take a prominent part. He was however a man of independent convictions and usually acted without reference to the views of others. He was regarded as a shrewd man of business and his opinion was generally admitted to be sound and reliable especially in legal matters, the remark made by his friends often being that he was as good as a lawyer.

Mr Taylor was a native we believe of Stratford on Avon but came to Newbury a number of years since where he is carried on the trade of a chemist and druggist.

The funeral took place yesterday at the cemetery.
