JAMES GILBERT
The funeral of the late Mr. James Gilbert, of Bartholomew House, Newbury, took place on Saturday last.
The remains, enclosed in elm polished coffin fitted with brass furnishings and brass name plate engraved:
“James Gilbert
died October 14th 1919
aged 64 years”
were removed to St Nicholas Parish Church for the first part of the service in the glass car, followed by carriages containing Mrs. Gilbert (widow), Mr. Harry Gilbert, Miss Daisy Gilbert, Mr. Stanley Gilbert, Miss Violet Gilbert (sons and daughters), Mrs. Harry Gilbert (daughter-in-law), Miss Coles (sister-in-law) and the Rector of Enborne, at whose church deceased had formerly filled the post of organist.
Several friends were in attendance at the church and at the graveside. The interment took place at the Newtown Road Cemetery, the Rector of Newbury conducting the service.
Floral offerings were sent by the widow and children, Mrs. and Miss Coles, Babs, Daisy, all at Fulham, Mrs. Thomas and Mervyn (Elcot Park), Mr. and Mrs. E. Baker (Hoe Benham), Mr. and Mrs. Lewis (Newbury), Mrs. Charlton Miss A.M.Staples, Mr. and Mrs. Humfrey, Dr and Mrs Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott (The Grange), Miss Langford, Rev. J.E. MacNeill (Walton Vicarage), Mr. and Mrs.Williams.
