An old inhabitant. The passing of Mrs Emma Wheeler at the age of 84 removes one who was born in Newbury and lived in the borough throughout her lengthened life. She was the widow of the late Thomas Wheeler, brushmaker who had worked for both Mr Sims and Mr Stone; but had died as long ago as 1889. Deceased had been an invalid for several years but had been carefully nursed by her daughter mrs Quelch of SunnyBank Terrace. The funeral on Saturday at the old cemetery was attended by her six children, two daughters in law, one son in law and three friends. Of her eight children two had predeceased her. There are 16 grandchildren.
