    Charles was the son of Cordwainer George Langton of St Mary's Hill, Newbury. He began life as a shoe maker until he was appointed to the Post Office in 1872. He rose to become Head Postman of Newbury. He married Mary Canning in Winterbourne in 1878 and lived in Priory Rd most of his life and died at "Iona", 13 Priory Rd, Newbury leaving c£900. Mary was born to an Agricultural labourer of Bagnor and Winterbourne. Source: Ancestry records
