HANNAH WILLIS

The late Mrs Willis – Considerable respect was shown on Monday by the inhabitants of Bartholomew Street, on the  occasion of the funeral of Mrs Willis, widow of the late Mr Thomas Willis,  who was one of the few remaining types of the old Newbury tradesmen, now almost disappeared.  Mrs Willis survived her husband for some years, and died on Wednesday at the good old age of 77.

The first part of the funeral service was held at the Parish Church, the Rector and the Rev. W M Hope officiating.  A number of wreaths were sent by sympathising friends and neighbours.
