LOUISA GEATER

FUNERAL OF RINGER’S WIFE

The late Mrs. David Geater, whose death occurred last week from cancer, was buried on Saturday at the Cemetery. The first part of the service was held at the Parish Church, whither the body was borne on the shoulders of the ringers, the bereaved husband having long been prominently identified with St. Nicolas' belfry. The funeral knell was tolled at intervals.

The service was read by the Rev. F. A. Hill, assisted by the Rev. W. M. Hope, and the coffin was covered with a number of beautiful wreaths and floral offerings of affection from relatives and friends.

The coffin was of polished elm, inscribed : "Louisa Geater, died September 4th, 1895, aged 37 years."

Deceased was the daughter of Mr. Henry Wilder, chairman of the Working Men's Conservative Club, and was born on the same day that Bishop Randall came to Newbury to take charge of the parish as its rector, namely, September 15, 1857.
