A drunken woman Mary Benwell, wife of a shepherd living in Monkey Lane, was found on Tuesday night by PC Tegg in Bartholomew Street in a helpless state of intoxication, plastered in mud and all together in a pitiable plight. She was removed to the police station for safety, and brought before the mayor on the following morning She was 5s and the money was paid. |
