STORM CIARA SWEEPS THROUGH THE CEMETERY

150 year old cedar loses branch

On 9 February 2020, following  gusts up to 97 mph and very heavy rain, Storm Ciara  brought down a heavily laden lower branch of one of the well established Cedars of Lebanon by the Chapel.   The cemetery gates were closed during the storm and it was thanks to one of our Friends who noticed what had happened whilst driving by.  Fortunately it looks as if the branch has fallen between two rows of gravestones. However  the damage will be assessed by Newbury Town Council this week.
