Rosa Jones

1861-1862

 

Rosa was born in Newbury she was the daughter of Gilbert & Jane Jones (nee Windebank) who were married on the 5th November 1854 at St Mary’s Guilford Surrey. Gilbert was born c1823 in Basingstoke and was a Publican and Jane was born c1830 in Basingstoke Hampshire.

By 1861 Jane & Glbert had three children, Gilbert born c1856, Emma Jane born 1858 and Rosa, the family were living in Newbury (22 West Street) and Gilbert was working as a Corn Dealer’s Clerk.

Rosa died aged 1 in 1862 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th June. The following year her mother gave birth to another daughter, Helen Biggs.

Rosa’s father died aged 39 in 1865 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 24th January. Her brother Gilbert died aged 9 the same year and he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 4th July.

In 1871 Jane and her two daughters were living in Union Chapel Yard Newbury and Jane was working as a Laundress. She died aged 44 in 1872 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th March.
