Mary Ann Norris

1820-1896

Mary Ann Pierce was born on the 17^th May 1820 in Ecchinswell Hampshire she was baptised on the 16^th July 1820 and was the daughter of David and Ann Pierce (nee Freemantle) who married on the 20^th June 1818 in Hampshire.

Mary (surname spelt Pearce) married Charles Norris in Newbury in 1848 and they had the following children:

The family lived in West Mills (1851 and 1861), Wither’s Yard Northbrook Street (1871) and Magdala Terrace (1881). Charles worked as a Fellmonger and Glover in 1851, a Leather Dresser in 1861, a Fellmonger & Leather Dresser’s Foreman in 1871 and a Fellmonger’s Foreman in 1881.

Charles died aged 63 on the 6^th May 1888 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th May.

In 1891 Mary Ann was supported by and living with her son William and his family in Speen. Mary Ann died aged 75 on the 27^th February 1896 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3^rd March.
