Hannah Sperring

1863-1930

 

Hannah was born in 1863 and was baptised on the 17th April 1864 (along with her older sister Harriet who was born in 1861) at St Nicolas Church Newbury she was the 6th child of James Walter & Jane Sperring (nee Messenger) who were married in Newbury in 1851.

Hannah’s siblings were:

Mary Ann 1852,

William 1854

Jane 1856

James 1859

Harriet 1861

Walter 1866

Alice 1868-1920

Frank Sperring 1871

Hannah lived in Newbury with her parents until at least 1901 but in the 1911 census she was recorded as an imbecile living in the Workhouse in Newbury.

Hannah died aged 66 in the Berkshire Mental Hospital in Cholsey Berkshire in 1930 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd July 1930.

Her parents, 4 sisters and 2 of her brothers, James and Frank are also buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery.
