Mary Mayo

c1813-1877

 

Mary was baptised on 18th November 1813 at St Nicolas Church Newbury and was the daughter of Amos & Sarah Butson (nee Harrison) who were married on 30th July 1805 at St John Horsleydown Southwark.

 

Mary’s siblings were:

Hannah born 15th June 1806, baptised 19th October 1806 in Thatcham, buried 5th April 1809 in Thatcham

Amos born 15th April 1808, baptised 12th March 1809 in Thatcham

John Marson born 24th February 1810, baptised 23rd December 1810 in Thatcham

Francis born c1812, died aged 4, buried 21st May 1816

Francis baptised 31st May 1816 at St Nicolas Church Newbury

 

Mary married William Mayo in 1838 in Newbury.

Francis Butson born 1856, died 1864 aged 7, buried 19/2/1864

 

In 1841 William, Mary and their children were living in Northbrook Street Newbury, Mary’s mother Sarah, was also living with them.

In 1851 William, Mary and their children were living in the parish of St Nicolas and William was working as an Auctioneers Porter.

 

In 1861 the family were living in Caroline Place Newbury and William was working as a Labourer. Mary’s widowed mother was again living with the family at this time.

In 1871 William & Mary were recorded living in the parish of St Nicolas and William was again recorded working as an Auctioneers Porter.

William died in 1875 and was buried on 17th April at Newtown Road Cemetery.

Mary died in 1877 and was buried on 3rd October at Newtown Road Cemetery
