"James Palmer was born in East Garston into a wealthy farming family and became a school master in Shaw.
"He married his first cousin Henrietta Louisa Majendie Meakin. She was born in Speen and her father Henry Meakin was the vicar there. He is buried in front if the church.
"When she was young she visited family in Australia and is related to William Wordsworth.
