John Joseph Parkinson
1855-1855
John Joseph was born in Newbury, Berkshire. He was baptised on the 19th September 1855, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the son of William (a Coach Smith) and Jane Parkinson (nee Buglar/Bugler/Buckler) who were married in 1850 in Bridgewater, Somerset.
John Joseph died soon after he was baptised, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 24th September 1855.
John Joseph’s family:
His father William was born on the 6th February 1826, he was baptised on the 12th March 1826, at Chapel Street, Independent, Blackburn, Lancashire, the son of John and Margaret Parkinson.
His mother Jane Bugler was baptised on the 22nd May 1825, in Thornford, Dorset, the daughter of Joseph and Jane Buglar (nee Bishop) who were married on the 21st July 1822, in Bradford Abbas, Dorset. (Jane’s mother Jane died aged 31, in 1831, she was buried on the 12th March, in Thornford, Dorset. Joseph Buglar remarried on the 27th October 1833, his 2nd wife was a widow, Martha Theresa Stevens).
William and Jane also had the following children:
Mary Jane, born in 1850, in Highbridge, Somerset
Margaret Alice, born in 1852, in Wiltshire (died aged 2, buried on the 27th July 1854, at St Michael and All Angels, Lambourn, Berkshire)
Georgiana Theresa, born 1854, in Lambourn, Berkshire.
The 1851 census records William (25), a Coach Smith, Jane (25) and their daughter Mary Jane (8 months), lodging in North Street, Somerset.
In 1861 William (34) a Coach Smith and Jane (34), were recorded living at 249 Gunner Lane, Birmingham, Warwickshire. Their daughter Mary Jane (10) was recorded living with her grandfather Joseph Buckler (66) a Baker and her step-grandmother Martha (49), in Highbridge, Burnham, Somerset.
The 1871 census records William (45), a Coach Smith, Jane (46), their daughter Theresa (16) and a visitor, living at 96 Great King Street, (a Provisions Shop) Birmingham.
William died aged 52, in 1881. He was buried in Key Hill Cemetery, Birmingham in January.
In 1881 Jane (55) was recorded as an Annuitant, living at 241, New John Street, West, Birmingham, with her married daughter Georgianna Harding (26), her son- in-law Walter Harding (26) and her granddaughter Georgina Thresa Jane (1).
Jane remarried on the 21st October 1883, at St George, Birmingham. Her 2nd husband was widower, James Penson, a Tailor.
Jane was widowed again in 1897. James Penson died aged 68, in Warwickshire.
The 1911 census records Jane (86) living with her married daughter Mary Jane Callaway (60) and her family, at Lily Vale, 2 Ashley Avenue, Lower Weston, Bath, Somerset
Jane Penson died aged 87, in 1914, in Bath.
