Susannah Hill (1810 — 1892) 

James was born circa 1810 in Newbuiy.

He married Susannah Pocock on 7 July 1834 at St Nicola! in Newbury. Susannah was born circa 1810 in Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire. In the 1841 census James and Susannah were living in Bartholomew Street in Newbury with children Hannah aged 6, Jane aged 5, Charles aged 2 and Emma aged 11 days. James was recordel as a labourer.

Ten years later in the 1851 census James and Susannah were still living in Bartholomew Street with five children, Jane aged 14, Charles aged 12, Emma aged 10, Fanny age, 7 and Martha aged 2. James was an agricultural labourer. 
By the time of the 1861 census James and Susannah were living in The City in Newbury with children Fanny aged 16, Martha aged 12, Joseph aged 9 and Edmund aged 5 plus grandson Henry Hill aged 5. James was recorded as an agricultural labourer and Fanny as a dressmaker apprentice 
Ten years later in the 1871 census James and Susannah were still living in The City with just grandson Henry Hill aged 14, although he was actually recorded as a son. James and Henry were recorded as labourers and Susannah as "laundry". 

In the 1881 census James and Susannah were still living at The City and James was recorded as being bed ridden. Their grandson Henry Hill married Hannah Day in 1880 and he was recorded living with Hannah and two children in Lambourn as well as with his grandparents in The City. James died in October 1887 aged 77 and was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 2 Novemb( 1887. 



Susannah was recorded living at 4 Shrewsbury Terrace (off Enbourne Road) with her son Edward his wife Elizabeth and five children in the 1891 census. 

Susannah died March 1892 and was buried at Newtown Road Cemetery on 4 April 1892.
