Levi’s birth was registered in the June quarter of 1840, in Reading Berkshire. (FreeBMD records his christian name as Livey and the GRO website records it at Levey). Levi was baptised on the 14thJune 1840, at St Giles, Reading, the son of Levi and Ann Prior (nee Allum) who were married on the 15thJune 1823, at St Giles, Reading, Berkshire.

His father Levi was baptised on the 6thMay 1804, in Shinfield, Reading, the son of James and Elizabeth Prior

His mother Ann Allum was born c1804, in Reading Berkshire.

Levi and Ann also had the following children baptised at St Giles, Reading:

Ann, baptised 29thAugust 1824

Prudence, baptised 29thOctober 1826

Charlotte, baptised 11thApril 1830

Elizabeth, baptised 4thOctober 1835

In 1841 Levi (1) was living in Crane Court, Silver Street, Reading, with his father Levi (35), a Labourer, his mother Ann (35) and his sisters, Ann (15) and Elizabeth (5).

Levi joined the Army. Military records record him enlisting on the 27thDecember 1859. He served in the 97th Foot Regiment, later transferring to the 106th Foot Regiment.

Levi married Ann Wherrell on the 10thOctober 1875, at St Mary, Reading, Berkshire.

Levi left the Army in 1878 receiving a pension from the 2ndJuly.

The 1881 census records Levi (39) as a General Labourer, living at 3 Clare Place, Newbury, Berkshire, with Ann (25), a Laundress and their niece Alice Ann Attewell (3).

Levi died on the 30thApril 1883, in the Newbury Workhouse (age at death recorded as 39), he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rdMay.
