MARY ANN WALKER  Formerly Skinner & nee Everett.

 

Mary was born c1808 but no records have been found as yet of her early life. Her marriage record shows that her father was Mark Everett, a Harness Maker.

 

Mary married Samuel Skinner on 30 June 1823 at St Mary’s, Greenham.

 

In 1841 they are living in Greenham Street, Thatcham. Samuel is 40 & a Cabinet Maker. Mary is 35. They have 4 children: Edward, 11; Emma, 7; Sarah, 4 & William, 1.

 

Samuel died Q4 1847 Newbury 6 157 & was buried at St Mary’s, Greenham.

 

In 1851 Mary is still living in Greenham Street & is a Widow Pauper Charwoman, aged 49.  Sarah is 14; William, 11; Caroline, 9 & Samuel, 6. All born in Greenham.

 

In 1861 Mary has moved to Golding’s Yard, Greenham where she is a Laundress, ages 53. She has 2 visiting children with her: William, 7, & Elizabeth, 5, Spiers – possibly grandchildren. She also had a lodger: Walter G. Walker (Ref: 3349).

 

Mary marries Walter on 15 July 1861 at St John’s (Q3 1861 Newbury 2c 373).

 

Mary Ann dies on 3 February 1869 (Q1 1869 Newbury 2c 164). She was 60 & her son, William, was present. She was a resident of the Union Workhouse, Newbury.  She was buried at NRC on 5 February 1869.
