Sarah was born on 29 December 1817 in Newbury & baptised on 17 February 1818 at the Newbury Lower Meeting House (Independent Non-Conformist).

Her parents were Joseph (Ref: 9205) & Sarah (Ref: 9487) Walker. 

In the 1841 & 1851 census records she is living in the St Giles area of Reading as a servant in a school run by Harriet Moulding.

 In 1861, aged 45, she has moved back to Newbury & is a Servant/Cook for the family & employees of William Penford. He ran a large Drapery store at 13-14, Northbrook St., Newbury. (This was quite an establishment, opening in 1849 & still open when William died in 1906.) 

Sarah died from Enteric Fever in Jack Yard, Newbury on 2 September 1869, aged 51. Q3 1869 Newbury 2c 142.

She was buried in NRC on6 September 1869. 

Martha Pearce, of Jack Yard, was present at Sarah’s death. A month later Martha was also present at the death of Sarah’s sister, Mary Walker (Ref: 2648). The sisters were probably living together.
