Edward George Tucker

1904-1921

Edward George was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Albert and Elizabeth Louisa Tucker (nee Plumb) who were married on the 29^th December 1885, at St John the Evangelist, Newbury.

His father Albert was born on the 28^th January 1864, in Newbury, Berkshire. He was baptised on the 1^st May 1864, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the son of William (a Labourer) and Elizabeth Tucker (nee Curtis) who were married on the 25^th December 1852, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury.

His mother Elizabeth Louisa was born on the 12^th July 1866, in Bagnor, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Alice Plumb (nee Marshall) who were married on the 4^th February 1850, in Kintbury, Berkshire.

Edward’s father Albert was recorded working as a Grocer’s Porter in 1891, a Carman in 1901, a Painter’s Labourer in 1911 and an Iron Foundry Labourer, at Plenty & Son, in 1921.

Edward’s parents Albert and Elizabeth were recorded lived in Rosemary Terrace, Enborne Road, Newbury, in the 1891, 1901, 1911 and 1921 census records and the 1939 Register.

In 1911 Edward (6) was recorded living with his parents Albert (47) and Elizabeth (46) and his siblings, Ellen (12), Beatrice (10), Harold (8), Frank (5), Robert (4) and Margaret (8 months).

The 1921 census records Edward aged 16 years 11 months, working as a Leather Merchant’s Shop Boy. He was still living with his parents and siblings, William (31), Ethel (25) Harold (18), Frederick (15), Robert (14) and Margaret (10)

Edward George died aged 17, on the 20^th July 1921. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23^rd July.

Edward’s parents continued to live in Rosemary Terrace, Enborne Place, until they died.

His mother Elizabeth Louisa died aged 82, on the 3^rd February 1949, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8^th February.

His father Albert died aged 90, on the 15^th June 1954, He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15^th June.
