Robert was a Carpenter. He was baptised on the 5th June 1774, in Bucklebury, Berkshire, the son of James and Elizabeth Parr (nee Drewatt) who were married on the 13th December 1760, in Bucklebury.

Robert’s siblings were (all baptised in Bucklebury):

Abraham, 30th July 1781

Charlotte, 20th September 1795

 

Robert married Mary Woods on the 2nd August 1808, at St Nicolas, Newbury (both were single)

(Mary was born c1785, in Berkshire)

They had the following children baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury, except Mary Ann:

Mary Ann, 6th August 1809 in London (born 8th July)

Eliza, 4th August 1811 (born 8th July)

Harriet, 27th June 1813

William, 15th October 1815

George, 27th July 1817

Charles, 4th July 1819

Ellen Amelia, 26th September 1824

 

In 1815 Robert Parr (37), a Carpenter, Mary (27), Mary Ann (5), Eliza (4), Harriet (2) and James Withers (19), an Apprentice, were recorded living in Lovidge’s Yard, of the east side of Northbrook Street, Newbury. Also recorded in the household was a Sarah Parr (12)

The 1841 census records Robert (65) and Mary (55), living in Northbrook Street, Newbury.

Robert was widowed in 1844. Mary died aged 59, she was buried on the 11th December at St Nicolas, Newbury.

The 1851 census records Robert (77) as a Master Carpenter, living in Marcha Yard, Newbury, with a lodger, Elizabeth Bird (68).

Robert died aged 85, in 1859, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road cemetery on the 29th April.

(The cemetery company accounts ledger has mistakenly recorded him as Richard Parr.)
